BIOGRAPHY

Simone Pedroni was born in Novara, Italy. He graduated from Milan’s Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in 1990 and in 1995 he took his Master Degree at Accademia Pianistica “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola-Italy, where he studied with Lazar Berman, Franco Scala and Piero Rattalino.
On June 6, 1993, at age 24, he was named the Gold Medalist of the Ninth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
His international engagements have included the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Sir Yehudi Menuhin, the Moscow Virtuosi with Vladimir Spivakov, the Orchestra of Maggio Musicale – Florence with Zubin Mehta, the RAI Orchestra – Turin with Eliahu Inbal, the Oslo Philharmonic with Pinchas Steinberg, I Musici of Montreal with Yuli Turovsky, the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana on tour in South America with Roberto Abbado, the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice with legendary Stanislav Skrowaczewski, the Prague Chamber Orchestra (on tour in U.S.A. including Avery Fisher Hall, New York), the Orchestra Sinfonica I Pomeriggi Musicali (with Aldo Ceccato), with the Orchestra della Radio della Svizzera Italiana with James Gaffigan, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra of Rome with Vladimir Ashkenazy, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Belgium National Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Orquesta de Valencia and the Orquesta Nacional de España – Madrid.
As Artist in residence at the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano “G. Verdi”, Mr. Pedroni has performed with conductors such as Leonard Slatkin (Brahms Piano Concerto n.2), Riccardo Chailly (Piano Concerto n.1 of romantic italian composer Giuseppe Martucci and Beethoven Choral Fantasy op.80), Gianandrea Noseda (Beethoven 5 Piano Concerti), Lous Langrée (Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto n.1), Lu Ja (Schumann Piano Concerto), Juanjo Mena (Messiaen Turangalila Symphonie), Xian Zhang (Beethoven Choral Fantasy at Teatro alla Scala and the original version of Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto n.1) and a Spain Tour with Oleg Caetani.
His recital appearances have included the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Carnegie Hall in New York (Stern Hall), the Herkules Saal in Munich, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Quirinale in Rome, the Filharmonia Narodowa in Warsav, the Settimane Musicali of Stresa, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Prague Spring Festival, the Palau de la Musica of Valencia, the Festival de Música de Canarias, the Delft Chamber Music Festival – Holland, the Festival de Menton, Bonn, Berlin, Hannover, Lisbon Athens, Istanbul, Montecarlo, Tel-Aviv and many others in USA, Japan and China.
A passionate film music champion in concert hall, in 2015 mr. Pedroni made his conductor debut with LaVerdi Orchestra and Choir performing John Williams Star Wars, “A Musical Journey”, a project conceived for the performance of all the original arrangements for the “Star Wars” Saga. The project was specifically devised to attract a multicultural and young audience to a concert hall and become them familiar with the live sound and impact of a symphony orchestra. The project resulted in a series of five sold-out concerts in September 2015 and July 2016 and scheduled also for April 2017. 
Mr. Pedroni has also performed Nino Rota’s  Piano Concerto Piccolo mondo antico, Concerto Soirée and Don Giovanni Fantasy in Milan with Giuseppe Gazioli and the World-Premiere of Luis Bacalov Piano Concerto written for Mr.Pedroni and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano “G. Verdi” with M° Bacalov conducting.
Mr. Pedroni is the founder of Alagna Summer Music Festival DA BACH A WILLIAMS held every year in Italian Alps under Monte Rosa and plays regularly with cellist Luca Franzetti.
Mr. Pedroni has issued a live recording with works by Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff and Hindemith for Philips Classics, Bach’s Goldberg Variations, an album with works of Liszt both for La Bottega Discantica, Pictures at an exhibition by Mussorgsky and works by Arvo Pärt, a recital entirely devoted to Schubert’s last Piano Sonata D.960 and Six Songs arranged for piano by Franz Liszt and Solo Recital with works of Scarlatti, Bach/Busoni, Chopin, Gottschalk and Horowitz, all for Labour of Love Records and available on iTunes, Nino Rota’s Piano Concerto in mi “Piccolo mondo antico” with LaVerdi Orchestra conducted by Giuseppe Grazioli for DECCA.
For Varése Sarabande Pedroni has released a recording of music by John Williams for piano. The recording has been officially approved by John Williams himself. 
His last recording “Cinema Morricone”, a double album produced by Robert Townson for Sony Classical, is an hommage to Ennio Morricone. It consists of special piano and flute arrangements created by Mr. Pedroni for American flutist Sara Andon. He was soloist in The Abrahamic Symphony commissioned by Abu Dhabi Festival and composed by Ihab Darwish, David Shire & John Debney. Soon to be released for Warner Classics the album John Williams Reimagined, in trio with Sara Andon and Cecilia Tsan.
